Six of LinkedIn's "affected" features

Post by sakib40 »

A few days ago, LinkedIn began gradually rolling out the redesign of its web version to all users: a cleaner, more modern design, the most radical change since the social network's launch.

The new design shifts the location of some functions , modifies menus, reorders elements, and adds options such as instant messaging. However, it also removes some features that, according to LinkedIn, had fallen into disuse .

Contact tagging. You can no longer tag contacts to categorize and group them according to their connection to you. So if you spent time doing this, bad luck: tags are gone. Now you can only search by name, or sort contacts by first name, last name, or recently added contacts.
Editing contact information. Previously, LinkedIn allowed you to add information to the contact details of any professional in your first-degree network: just go to whatsapp number list their profile, click on "Contact Information," and then "Add Contact Information." You could, for example, note the last time you interacted with them, how many emails you sent them and whether they responded, etc. Now, this is no longer possible.
Advanced search for people and jobs. This feature hasn't actually disappeared completely, although it has been modified. The "Advanced Search" button to the right of the search box no longer appears, but the advanced search filters do appear after the first search , on the right side of the results page.
[Profile information in PDF format. This information is no longer available for download.] Update as of February 12, 2017: LinkedIn has reinstated this option. You can now download your own and third-party profile information in PDF format.
The profile completion rate meter. It's also not available, although LinkedIn has confirmed on its blog that it will be added again soon.
Image gallery on University pages. Educational institutions can customize their page header, but they no longer have the option to add a gallery of images and videos to create the kind of virtual tour or promotional presentation video that was previously available. Less visual impact, therefore. And a bonus. Although it might seem so at first glance, the "Export Contacts" feature , which allows you to transfer your LinkedIn contacts' data to a .csv file, has not been eliminated . It's simply been... hidden a bit. With the new design, you must go to your "Contacts" and click on "Manage imported contacts." Once inside, the "Advanced Actions" option will appear on the right, followed by "Export Contacts." You will receive an email with a link to the .csv file containing the names, email addresses, current company, and job title of your LinkedIn contacts.
