Paid subscriptions to audiovisual content are very common: 74.3% of young people have one. However, sharing expenses is more common : more than half share the payment with another person, only 26.7% pay for the subscription alone, and 19% pay for another person's subscription. In fact, sharing subscriptions is so common that Netflix announced in March that it would start charging extra for sharing an account with people who live outside the primary subscriber's household.
And how much do they spend? An average of 20 phone number list euros per month . The study also highlights that 18.6% of young people spend more than 40 euros per month on subscriptions, and that among 15- to 19-year-olds, there is a greater lack of awareness about how much they pay each month . To give you an idea: a basic Netflix account costs 7.99 euros per month, while an individual Spotify account costs 9.99 euros.
In digital entertainment, gender does matter
Men and women don't entertain themselves online in the same way. The study indicates that although the type of content consumed is very varied, it is highly differentiated by gender, except in the case of music.
Girls watch more movies, series, or documentaries (45.1%), beauty and fashion content (47.9%), travel or nature content (30.9%), animals (19.6%), and food content (19.9%). In contrast, boys watch more video game content (73.2%) and sports content (37.2%).
As for platforms, Instagram is the main player among both men and women . TikTok is most prevalent among 15- to 19-year-olds, and especially among girls. YouTube and Twitch are platforms more associated with men and younger age groups . And Twitter and Facebook are more common among older youth.
