How to spy on customers on the web

Post by suchona.kani.z »

In the last newsletter we asked if you test or prefer to rely on intuition. We received a suspiciously low number of votes, so we are declaring the poll invalid. Are you afraid to admit it?

It's no wonder, testing takes a lot of time and requires advanced analytics skills. Few marketers have enough time to plan testing , let alone implement it. On the other hand, without testing, conversion paths cannot be optimized. Fortunately, we have a tip on how to discover hot spots on your website, and you don't even have to be an expert in Google Analytics.

Record everything that happens
There are tools that can map and record a website. At AITOM, we primarily use the HotJar tool , but you can also use Czech alternatives.

These tools can create heat and scroll maps . Why should overseas chinese in uk data you care? If you see in your heat map that users are clicking on images and not buttons or clicking at all, you have a UX problem. Maybe the buttons aren't prominent enough or the user is simply confused by other visual elements.

On the heat map we see that users are most interested in the Cybersec training content

It’s similar with a scroll map. People generally don’t scroll , so you should always have some conversion element at the top of the page that the user can see without scrolling. (In web lingo, we would say: “place the conversion button above the fold.”)

Only half of users scroll to the results. Maybe we should put them higher?

The tools can also record user behavior . Anonymously, of course, but more on that later. This way you can see directly where users are struggling. Watching videos is more time-consuming, but the information is invaluable.
