So I could have increased my prices

Post by jrineakter »

There is a risk of what is called an inflationary spiral, that is to say that the… well I'm not an economist, of course, but that's how I understood it… companies have to increase wages, so wages increase but prices increase at the same time. And since companies have to increase wages, they are forced to increase the price of their products. So the price of their products increases, so they increase wages again, so they have to increase their prices again, etc.

I decided not to increase the price of the academy. And believe me, a lot of people told me to do it. I even have clients, really, it's literally something that has happened several times, I have clients who have told me: "I don't feel comfortable paying so little compared to the quality of the Authentic French Academy."
I could have done like everyone else, said: "Well, there is inflation, all the services I pay for are increasing...", and that is the case, as I said, the website, the videos, lots of service providers, the majority of the services I use, we use about ten services for the academy, everything is increasing, clearly, enormously.

But even though I know that the academy has a value that is greater than what I charge, than what I invoice, I still want to help more people. And even though, as I told you, some people tell me "you have to increase your prices, because I'm not comfortable", I know that it's a lot to pay €29 per month or €289 per year.

Of course it's not expensive compared to the 150 hours of content we offer, compared to the two Zoom meetings with our tutors in very small groups each week, compared to the SOS qatar whatsapp number data lessons, compared to the dictations, the private groups, the support from my team, there are currently 12 people helping members in the academy, so it's huge and it costs a lot. And I know that the price I charge is ridiculous compared to the prices of schools. If you're going to take French lessons in a school, you're going to pay 10 times more. So it's very cheap.

But I know that for many people, it's a significant amount. For many people, it's very expensive, it's difficult. So I want to help them and I have no intention of increasing the academy's prices. My expenses are increasing sharply, but I don't want to make my audience suffer that. Ultimately, it lowers Français Authentique's profits a little, but there you go, I won't touch the prices. Clearly, I have no intention of increasing them, but I have no intention of lowering them either. I'm very comfortable with the prices. I know that we offer a lot more than we charge, but there you go. I'm quite comfortable with that. But rest assured, members of the academy, there will be no increase.

And if one day, because you should never say never, I had to increase them a little bit, it will not be valid for those who have an active subscription, obviously, it will only be for new members.

So there you have it, this was a rather unstructured episode, I apologize. I went off in all directions about inflation, politics, prices, but I hope it helped you, gave you some extra vocabulary and that you enjoyed it.
