There is a conditional rule that speaks about navigation on a site. It is believed that if a user can easily find the necessary data, he can stay on this resource and study something else. But if the visitor does not see what he is looking for after the third click, he will stop looking for information here and go to another site.

In other words, the rule says that you are organizing a site for users, and the fewer clicks they make to find the necessary information, the better.

The rule has several meanings:

The rule has many critics who consider it incorrect, and the main indicator of success is determined by audience satisfaction. However, if you are trying to get to the TOP, then you should not ignore either the three-click rule or the nesting level. Since they both affect the process of scanning the site by search engines and are important when assessing the level of optimization of the site structure.

How to fix high page nesting
