Google algorithm updates are to SEO what space is to a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. And if we take a quote from Douglas Adams, from his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and adapt it to our context, it would read something like this:

"A Google algorithm update is a big deal. Really big. You can't even imagine how huge, gigantic, and incredibly big it is. I mean, you might think it's a long way to the pharmacy, but it's nothing compared to a Google algorithm update."

If Douglas had been writing about SEO instead of people who can't afford their own spaceships, he things to such an extent.

Which brings us directly to the purpose of this article.

If Google's algorithm updates are so incredibly big, then we need to prepare.

Before we get started, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page about what Google’s algorithm updates mean.

What is a Google algorithm update?
Also called "Broad Core Algorithm Update", we will refer to them indonesia mobile database as Google Core Updates (or main algorithm updates, for brevity in this article).

An update of this type is an update to the building blocks of the search engine.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so let's start with one.

On an incredibly simple scale, you can think of the core part as fitting in with the rest of the algorithms like this:

Again, this is a very simplistic model, but what I am trying to illustrate is that there are a wide variety of different algorithms that manage, interpret, and generate both functions and signals. And then there is "the Core".

If we think about the huge variety of different algorithms involved with processing the signals used to rank a page (and to judge one page against another, determine what elements should be present in a given result, etc.), it's simple to see how "backlinks" are not lumped together as one metric as illustrated above, but rather are evaluated based on a variety of characteristics, each with different signals, metrics, and likely algorithms of their own.
