Post by suchona.kani.z »

Throughout Germany, rangers are committed to protecting plants and species in nature reserves, national parks and nature parks, often for municipalities and foundations. Their tasks include looking after visitors, for example during excursions, guided tours, project days or educational programs, educational and public relations work, and maintenance and repair work. They also often carry out scientific research and nature observations and support the police, fire brigade and authorities in complying with protection regulations.

In Bestwig, the NaRa uses the site of the hydroelectric power plant to teach children and young people in particular about the environment and nature conservation, especially in connection with renewable energies, in a variety of ways.

Through cooperation with local daycare centers, even the youngest rangers can learn a lot, such as how to grow their own fruit and vegetables or how to identify different tree and plant species. Even at primary school age, children are taught more complex relationships, for example how to protect wet meadows or crayfish in streams and ponds. Renewable energies and the renaturation of the Ruhr are also topics that the NaRa covers in detail and in a way that is accessible to everyone.

The result of the work of the nature rangers is an important success, as their educational offerings inspire many people, from young to old, to appreciate the nature around them and thus ensure a better environment and future, both in Bestwig and throughout Germany.
