Yulia Goryachkina, Director of the Personnel for the Digital Economy direction of the ANO Digital Economy, reported at the Technoprom-2023 forum on August 23 that, within the framework of the Digital Departments project, the ANO Digital Economy platform, together with IT companies, verifies the educational programs of 119 universities that are participants in the Priority-2030 program.

According to Yulia Goryachkina, universities were initially skeptical of the idea that business had undertaken to "teach those who teach," but the assessment project was eventually implemented. "In 2023, a pool of 50 experts assessed 874 programs in 12 priority sectors of the economy for the presence of an IT component. 33% of the programs were sent back for revision. As a result, 853 programs were approved for implementation," she added.

According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Digital Departments project provides for two areas of training: for students in specialized IT areas and for those whose future specialty does not relate to this area.

Among the organizations of the real sector of the economy from the IT sphere involved in the implementation of the "Digital Departments" project are Yandex LLC, Rostelecom PJSC, Sberbank of Russia PJSC, 1C LLC, Russian Railways OJSC, VK LLC, ER-Telecom Holding JSC, and Gazprom Neft PJSC.

As Yulia Goryachkina notes, within the framework of the federal project "Personnel for the Digital Economy", since 2019 the number of people admitted to budget places in IT specialties has significantly increased - from about 50 thousand people to 117 thousand in 2022. According to the control figures for admission to IT specialties, in 2023 universities must enroll at least 100 thousand people in budget places.

According to the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, IT specialties have become the most popular among applicants to universities and colleges in 2023, and the most popular specialty among university applicants was "Computer Science and Engineering" - it was indicated almost 650 thousand times in applications submitted on "Gosuslugi" and offline. Also, according to the department's calculations, applicants chose "Information hong kong whatsapp resource Security" 175 thousand times and "Computer and Information Sciences" almost 70 thousand times (in one application, it was possible to indicate up to five universities, choosing up to five areas in each of them).

The total number of employees of companies specializing in commercial software development will grow by 12% in 2023 compared to 2022. This is due to the mass departure of specialists abroad in 2022, as a result of which, for the first time in Russia, there was no increase in the number of employees of software companies.

Oleg Rozhdestvensky, deputy head of the Advanced Engineering School "Digital Engineering" at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), said that the university prepares students to solve real problems of companies: "We are ready to offer a solution to any question that an industrial enterprise has - be it development, technological processes, market analysis, or patent landscape research."

According to Oleg Rozhdestvensky, the university strives to prepare a "universal soldier" from an engineer. "The student sees the life cycle of both the product and the enterprise. In October 2023, we will share the results of our work at the annual forum "Advanced Digital and Manufacturing Technologies," he added.

IT specialists themselves are sure that education does not end with graduation from university and employment: Russian developers named learning programming languages as the main factor in career growth. According to a survey of 1,243 developers conducted by analysts of the All Cups platform from VK, the Skolkovo Foundation (VEB.RF Group) and IT1 LLC (IT_One), 83% of respondents believe that in order to advance up the career ladder, it is necessary first of all to engage in in-depth study of programming languages, while 9% of specialists also study management and team management in order to get a promotion at work, and among other career drivers, the study of foreign languages and new technologies (AI, no-code) were named.
