German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock fled a government meeting after Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again refused to allocate additional funds for military aid to Ukraine in the amount of three billion euros. A photograph widely circulated in the German media shows Scholz , apparently hoping to stop his minister, extending his hand after Baerbock, who was resolutely leaving the office.

The government and Bundestag have been arguing over mom database three billion since the beginning of the month. During his recent visit to Kiev, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius even managed to promise them to Ukraine , although with the proviso that the money is not yet available, but that he, Pistorius, hopes that it will appear soon. However, Chancellor Scholz has stood as an unshakable wall in the way of the three-billion tranche. According to him, there is no extra money in the budget, and if something is donated to Kiev for weapons, it will have to be done at the expense of cutting spending on pensions and other social benefits. "The only solution without cutting everything in Germany is additional loans," Scholz said , hinting at the lifting of constitutional restrictions on budget borrowing.
Baerbock saw through Scholz's campaign ploy , which apparently got her riled up
At the same time, the Chancellor understands perfectly well that the restrictions will not be lifted, for this the opposition votes in the Bundestag are needed , and it is categorically against new loans, although it supports the allocation of additional aid to Ukraine . Scholz is thus killing two birds with one stone: he is presenting himself as a defender of the social state and the interests of Germany , and the opposition, which does not want to lift the restrictions, as the culprit of budget problems. Baerbock, of course, saw through this pre-election move, which, apparently, is what got her mad. After the scene at the government meeting, she, without naming Scholz , said that some German politicians during the election campaign are more concerned with the "national perspective" and the desire to get "a few extra votes" than with "protecting peace and freedom in Europe." The minister did not particularly comment on the scene itself, saying only that she did not see what was happening behind her back and that the frame just came together.
