They are able to quickly respond to changes in the industry, master and use new technologies. Since 2019, Greenatom has been attracting IT students from 50 Russian universities to internship programs.
"Today, the company employs more than 8.6 thousand people, of which about 5.6 thousand are IT specialists. The share of young employees (under 35) at Greenatom is 45%. They hold various positions: analysts, developers, project managers, etc. Specialists take an active part in developing import-independent solutions, developing and supporting corporate systems, as well as creating services for managing shipping on the Northern Sea Route," noted Natalia Pichugina, HR Director of Greenatom JSC.
HR Director of the software development company IW Group Dilyara Salimova explained why companies rely on young employees: "Many areas in IT are very young, and even technologies that appeared a long time ago are constantly developing and changing. For example, the programming languages Kotlin and Swift were created in the 2010s. AI, neural networks, IoT, blockchain technologies began to develop rapidly relatively recently. Therefore, young specialists have an excellent opportunity to stand at the origins of development, quickly master technologies and immediately apply them in practice. Young employees are more flexible, they do not have to retrain and restructure, they are more enthusiastic about starting a career. And many companies are willing to hire such specialists."
Pavel Frolov, founder and producer of the company that develops and manufactures robotic EdTech kits "Robbo", is sure that the demand for young specialists is connected with the personnel shortage: "Some companies have started to hire juniors more actively to replenish the staff of more experienced employees who have gone abroad. In addition, such a practice exists in organizations that work with government contracts. Most often, they have limited terms, and it is not always possible to quickly hire high-level specialists for a project."
