In 2020, e-commerce reached an average daily turnover of $89.2 million in Argentina, which represented an increase of 557% compared to 2019, according to the eMarketer report.

During the first half of 2020, 9 out of 10 Argentines made at least one online purchase, and 1 out of 10 people did so for the first time during the pandemic.

To raise awareness of its impact, 34% of the total sales were made through social media, while the rest were made through other sales channels. Instagram accounted for 87% of the total sales, while Facebook made up the total with 13%.

After the pandemic year, which turned out to be “ideal” for eCommerce, 2021 was characterized by relative stabilization in the sector.

“After a 2020 marked by a great acceleration of growth (1.3 million new users and 124% increase in sales), we can define 2021 as the year of consolidation ,” explains Gustavo Sambucetti, institutional director of the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE).
