Marta González, professor of the Master in Food Safety Management at Bureau Veritas Training, talks to us about the new developments that will be implemented in the revision of ISO 22000.
While waiting for the revision of ISO 22000, which is expected to be published in the last half of next year, we can already see the new features that it will present:
High-level structure (common organization for management system standards), which will facilitate integration with other standards.
New double vision of the word risk , from a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) point of view and from the level of the company's strategy and business.
Distinction between the two cycles of the Deming Circle Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA): the first applied to the management system as a whole and the second directed to the operations described in clause 8 bitcoin data that satisfy the HACCP principles.
We do not know whether the fact that this standard has been revised will increase its implementation in companies in the food sector; but its level of implementation can be assessed at present, since the ISO Survey 2016 was published in September, which provides data on the number of certificates for all its standards issued in different countries around the world.
According to this study, in 2016 there were 32,139 companies certified under the ISO 22000 standard worldwide. If we look at the distribution, the largest contribution is in the East and Pacific areas of Asia and Europe; together they have more than 80% of the ISO 22000 certified companies worldwide.
The countries that led the certifications under this standard in 2016 were China (11,069), Greece (2,227) and India (2,000). Spain, with 611 certifications, is in 10th place.
However, the evolution in the two main areas has been opposite over time. While at the beginning of the ISO 22000 standard in 2005 Europe was the undisputed leader, from 2010 until today the leading role has remained in the East Asian region.
