FACCT, a Russian developer of technologies to combat cybercrime, noted the use of Donald Trump's deepfakes after his victory in the US presidential election in advertising fake crypto resources. In addition to him, the list of popular images among scammers includes billionaire Elon Musk, American journalist Tucker Carlson, co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain platform Vitalik Buterin, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, and model Kim Kardashian. Only one of the large teams of cryptocammers stole more than $16 million from victims.

selection of famous india telegram people in one of the messengers. Their voices can voice any text up to 400 characters long. The proposed deepfakes are designed to generate advertising for fake crypto exchanges and cryptocurrency exchange platforms. Experts note that deepfake generation technologies are not yet ideal: if you look closely, you can notice flaws in facial expressions in many of these videos.

"Deepfakes will only gain popularity until the creators of neural networks that can generate such deepfakes limit their growth. And this is a very difficult task. With video content, it is a little easier. Most neural networks that generate deepfakes cannot move the pupils of the eyes in accordance with the rotation of the head and correctly move the chin relative to the movement of the lips. These are the artifacts that can currently be used to identify a deepfake. At the same time, the quality of creating deepfakes is improving. Probably, neural networks will soon be able to bypass these visual difficulties," says Andrey Mishukov, CEO of Infozashchita JSC (iTPROTECT).

Fake crypto exchanges are almost no different from real ones and offer a standard set of operations. The attacker's task is to get the user to make a deposit. Even a person who does not have a crypto wallet can become a victim of this scheme: most fake exchanges and cryptocurrency exchangers have the option to make a deposit from a bank card.

"Various cryptocurrency pyramids are used almost constantly at different levels. Most of them are completely fake and have nothing to do with reality. Some virtual currency is created, not registered anywhere, virtual token seeding is done on the created platform, and then the user is shown graphs of what the person is supposedly earning. When the victim requests a withdrawal of money, it is no longer there. If you look at the general statistics, then almost 97% of all cryptocurrency projects in the Russian Federation ended in a scam," said Igor Beder, director of the investigation department of T.Hunter, expert of the NTI SafeNet market.

An analysis by FACCT researchers of five large criminal groups with the active participation of Russian-speaking workers operating under a scheme with fake crypto exchanges showed that for them the average theft amount is $233, and the largest amount stolen from one victim was almost $27 thousand. At the same time, in one of the largest teams, which mainly deals with drainers, the average theft amount is tens of times higher - $5.5 thousand, and the maximum transaction amount is almost $833 thousand.

"Each crypto scam scheme has certain features that affect its profitability. In the case of fake crypto exchanges, the victim does not necessarily have cryptocurrency: it can be "purchased" on the same exchange and paid for with a bank card. This means that the user will only lose the money that he decided to invest through the exchange. In the case of drainers, almost all funds from the connected wallet are withdrawn from the victim's account. This can explain the differences in the average amount of theft in different crypto scam schemes," said Maria Sinitsyna, Senior Analyst of the Digital Risk Protection Department at FACCT.
