Using Twenty Twenty-Five for an online shop

With the WooCommerce plugin , WordPress can be expanded into a fully-fledged online shop. There is also a standard theme for shops called Storefront . However, Storefront is on the decline. The reasons:

However, it can happen that in the heat of the moment you render your theme unusable. In such cases, WordPress tries to use a standard theme that is installed but not activated.

It is therefore advisable to always have an intact standard theme in the installation. Do not delete the predecessor Twenty Twenty-Four even if you have decided on Twenty Twenty-Five!

For operators of online shops, it is advisable to carefully consider a theme change. The successor to Storefront, the previous WooCommerce standard theme, is already in development. The first WooCommerce standard block theme will usher in a new era in about twelve months. For those who already have a shop, waiting is probably the better option.

If you are setting up a new shop, you can use the Twenty Twenty-Five block theme straight away instead of the classic Storefront theme and consider changing themes later. Changing themes between two block themes is relatively straightforward, provided that no page builders are involved other than Gutenberg.

Twenty Twenty-Five's strengths are not only evident in simple blog projects, but also in more complex ones. If you are planning an online magazine and want to display the individual blog posts sorted by category, using Twenty Twenty-Five is the right choice.
