Sunday
Brunch – Pikesville, MD
Sunday morning started with a brunch with Diane and all of her friends to celebrate her graduation and birthday. We went to Mari Luna Latin Grill in Pikesville, MD, which had a fantastic selection of food! In addition to some latin favorites which Fabio’s family loved, there was a omelet station, waffle station, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, etc. It was a fantastic brunch!
Hi baby Sophia!!

Shopping – Annapolis, MD
After brunch we headed to Annapolis, MD to do some walking around and shopping. It was another gorgeous day!
We saw this awesome picture and almost bought it. If we had more wall space, it definitely would have been ours. What could be better than a black lab over a Maryland flag with a map of the DC/MD area?? Nothing.
We also went into a little store just for Jack. The Black Dog general store had so much stuff with black labs on it!!
Fabio and I each wound up getting a t-shirt, and then we bought a new collar for Jack. We also got a Christmas ornament and a magnet. I guess you could say we went a little crazy in that storeWhat can I say? We are obsessed with our dog!
Fabio’s sister Karen was also super sweet and surprised my by getting me this black lab cookie cutter. I can’t wait to bake some cookies with it and ship them to her!!

BBQ at my Grandparents’ house – Grasonville, MD
Since we were already in Annapolis, we decided to cross the bay bridge to head to my grandparents’ house for a BBQ.
Everyone had a great time sitting around and getting to know one another (my grandparents had never met this part of Fabio’s family before- although they have met Diane in the past).
Fabio entertained the dogs
And then manned the grill (with some help from my dad)…
It was a gorgeous day and everyone had a blast!
Monday
Fabio and I spent Monday relaxing at our apartment. His family had all left by then, so we enjoyed Memorial Day by ourselves.
Our day started out with a bike ride around DC.
Naturally we went by the Arlington National Cemetery where we saw dataset President Obama driving away (he had just finished his speech).
Hey, prez! (Let’s hope he doesn’t read this haha)
Then we saw a huge ceremony near the National Mall. There was a lot of singing and I was so touched to see some older veterans in their uniforms. It definitely made me stop to appreciate what this holiday was all about. I have to say I got a bit emotional when I saw some of the older soldiers reacting with one-another. So moving.
