The process of hiding procedures and functions in Jatoba DBMS
The task of import substitution of software set by the country's leadership is gradually being solved, as evidenced by the constantly expanding register of Russian software. Significant difficulties arise when it is necessary to replace proprietary platform solutions, such as DBMS, for the development and improvement of which Western vendors have spent years of work and a lot of financial resources. It is unlikely that there will be a domestic developer capable of creating such a product from scratch, but the task is significantly simplified if there is a sufficiently mature solution with open source code, on the basis of which australia mobile database can build one's own commercial products. Fortunately, in the case of relational DBMS, such a solution exists: it is being developed and supported within the framework of the open PostgreSQL project. One of the commercial solutions based on it was the Jatoba DBMS, released last year by the company Gazinformservice.
According to Denis Rozhkov, head of software development at Gazinformservice, many customers who used Western commercial DBMSs had long been asking about replacing them for one reason or another. Both the original (so-called vanilla) version of PostgreSQL with open source code and commercial forks were considered as alternatives. As it turned out, none of them fully met the corporate-level requirements of large customers for ensuring fault tolerance and providing full operational service at sites located in different, fairly remote regions. Therefore, a decision was made to develop our own DBMS.
