in 2022, when major foreign film studios left the Russian market and domestic cinema chains stopped paying Hollywood majors

In 2023, there were 141 billion france whatsapp number database visits to sites with pirated video content worldwide, the Dutch publication TorrentFreak reported, citing a study by MUSO (which monitors piracy) and the consulting company Kearney. The leaders in the consumption of unlicensed video were the United States and India, which accounted for 11% of all visits each, Russia rounded out the top 3 countries with a share of 6%, according to the study by TorrentFreak.

The number of registered visits to pirated resources worldwide in 2023 increased by about 10% compared to 2022. However, TorrentFreak points out that this only concerns video content; the study does not take into account pirated applications and other types of delivery of illegal content to the user.

The revenue of pirate services in Russia has grown by 71.4% over the past two years and amounted to 12 billion rubles by the end of 2023, the InterMedia agency calculated in the report "The Economy of Russian Culture". At the same time, the turnover of legal online cinemas in 2022 fell by 13%, from 99.6 billion rubles in 2021 to 86.6 billion rubles in 2022, and in 2023 it grew by only 3%, to 89.7 billion rubles, the report says.

The number of pirated resources is also growing: according to the TelecomDaily agency, which surveyed more than 10,000 users of video services, the number of pirated resources in the first half of 2023 increased by 20% compared to the first half of 2022.

Let us recall that in the spring of 2022, a number of Western film companies (Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., Disney, Sony and Paramount) and platforms announced a temporary suspension of the distribution of their films in Russia and left the Russian market, and domestic cinema chains in 2022 stopped paying Hollywood majors for films.
