Getty Images to Offer More Than 35 Million Free Images

Post by roseline371274 »

In its quest to lead the way in creating a more visual world,   Getty Images recently announced the availability of a large portion of its stock image library for free on websites, blogs and social media.

From now on, you won't have to pay, at least in some new zealand business email list cases, for the rights to a photo in order to be able to use it freely and without watermarks. Getty Images , the leading agency for creating and distributing high-quality images, photos, music and other content based in Seattle, will offer more than 35 million free images  and photographs for use on websites, blogs and social networks, particularly on Twitter, Tumblr and WordPress.

Embed Images, the agency’s new image sharing and distribution service, relies on embed code ( similar to that used by YouTube), “making it easy, legal and free for anyone to share images on websites, blogs and social networks.” However, it should be noted that Getty Images’ “embedded content” may not be used for commercial purposes (for example, advertising, promotions or merchandising) or to suggest endorsement or sponsorship, as noted on its Terms and Conditions page.

This strategic and striking shift by the company founded by Mark Getty and Jonathan Klein  responds to the fact that recently there was unlicensed, uncredited content circulating from the agency that could easily be found through different search engines. In addition, according to statements by  Craig Peters , Senior Vice President of Business Development, Content and Marketing for the agency, the current value for Getty Images and the content owners will reside in three pillars:

First, there will be attribution around that image, and since we are serving the image, we will make sure that there is proper attribution . Second, all images will be linked back to our site and directly to the image detail page. This way, anyone who has a valid business need for that image will be able to license that image from our website . Third, since all images are provided by Getty Images, we will have access to information about who is using and viewing that image and how , and we will reserve the right to use that data to benefit our business.
